A very small portion of the metal sculpture Seattle Garden by Ann Sperry, created in 1988. This unique metal sculpture was designed by Sperry to top a 300+ foot concrete wall surrounding a Seattle City Light power sub-station near the Pike Place Market. Sperry was winner of the design competition for the project which needed to both beautify the neighborhood and provide an effective security perimeter around the electric sub-station.

Art and utility, an interesting combination. The first instance I've seen of an objective to beautify as well secure. Thank you.
I'd take one look at all that sharp metal and decide to stay away from THAT substation!
Cool, Dad.... never see anything like that down in the heart of Texas.
That's great that art can also protect - I will have to check this out - thanks for the picture!
I am glad there is some greenery mixed with it...
Much more imaginative than barbed wire!
I'm not so sure about this one. I'd have to see it up close. There is a lot of public art that I do enjoy though.
