This paving stone street on the south slope of Queen Anne Hill is representative of some of our old streets and the stone paving probably dates from 1920 or so. There is a certain charm when driving on this type of paving, though it can be quite challenging on two-wheeled vehicles like scooters or motorcycles. Some of the holes could actually swallow a small 10" wheel on one of the early model Vespas and most certainly throw even a most experienced rider. But I digress. My intention was to call your attention to the ominous sky instead of the rather cheery foreground. Our weather, for want of a better description, has been interesting. Snow in the outlying areas yesterday along with pockets of sunshine. I guess it really is spring and the weather is just as rough as this road.

Chuck, this is a lovely photo. I don't know this street on Queen Anne, but will check it out (watching out for holes) the next time I'm in Seattle. I almost posted a cobblestone street photo today from Belgrade; will do it soon.
On the news last evening (Saturday) they showed your city was getting a pretty good snow event. Looked like it was causing all sorts of problems none of which would have been more interesting than that snowfall on this hill and having to drive down or up. Neat post, Chuck.
What a great shot. The dark clouds above the city skyline is an amazing view from that neighborhood.
I think the cloud is bringing a storm with it. But those clouds look majestic in this photo. And the tower is overlooking every other building in this shot make it a focus of this photo. Great shot, Chuck.

I can HEAR the tyres as they go down this road!
Thanks for visiting and your best wishes on my Blogbirth-day!

Great shot.
Multiple points of interest especially with the Space Needle against that great sky.
Thanks for sharing.
BTW, I just checked the Space Needle web cam and it showed lots of city lights.
Have a great Sunday.

Now I generally do not like city photographs but I make exceptions and this is one: I love it. There is so much contrast between old and new. The heights of the two areas are interesting. The sky (of course) is gorgeous. I see no smog. You do live in a beautiful city.
I'm wondering if you could get a bicycle on there, or wouldn't it be worth trying?
Wonderful shot, you show the city off in a fantastic light.
Wow, amazing shot! I seriously adore cobblestone streets. I should go take a shot of one of them in Minneapolis today, since I'll be right near it. Great sky, too!
Beautiful. I love these old street in Seattle.
Very nice shot. If it wasn't for the Space Needle, I would not have guessed that Seattle has streets like that.
I have to agree with K,had it not been for this Space Needle I would have been at a loss to name the city. It's a spectacular shot looking onto the city. Please digress, go off atngents as much as you like. Your written posts are also why I visit.
This is a wonderful shot! I love the sky line and the neighborhood!
Fantastic light at the back over the city, and very nice neighbourhood too.
Bibi: The street is West Kinnear Place
Kris: Seattle is a pretty bicycle friendly town. This particular street could be an uncomfortable ride, but if necessary one could always move to the adjacent sidewalk, or get off and walk. -:)
Great foreground in the photo. But the city in the distance and that sky are fantastic. Brilliant photo today!
The contrast of bright cobblestones and dark clouds is stunning. Is Mt Rainier behind the clouds?
Your Saturday and Sunday posts are interesting, especially since I'm right down south of you in Portland. All is I saw was a flake or two, a tiny ball of hail or two. It has been quite cold and somewhat windy, though. I didn't even pay any attention to the weather forecast on the early evening local news--it could change by in the morning.
Greetings from Finland!
Now our snow is almost gone -except in the forests :)
Your photos are professional and very enjoyable.
My husband has been driving from Edmonton to Vancouver about fifteen years ago - near Seattle. He told, how wonderful landscapes were.
I publish now my modest photos in DailyPhotos, my town is Joensuu.
Thank you for comments!
we've cobbled-stoned streets like that round here - usually a lot narrower though and my wife detests them.
Simply beautiful!!!
Awesome view. It looks almost like a movie scene because of the color saturation in the foreground and the gray city far away.
